History and Latte was established by military historian and author Cliff Lloyd, whose interest in Military History began from birth.

After service in the Royal Air Force, Cliff embarked on a varied career in IT and Management Consultancy which included working with local authorities, the Guardian newspaper and BAE Systems. However, his lifelong passion has been in military history and writing. As an avid believer in

life-long learning he holds an MA in Second World War Studies and is currently researching the effectiveness of the RAF during the 1939-1940 campaign for France and the Low Countries for the award of Doctor of Philosophy.

Cliff’s first book, Operation Ironclad, published in 2015, followed the British invasion of Madagascar in May 1942. This was followed in 2018 by the publication of Iraq 1941 covering the battle to diminish the British presence at the RAF training base of Habbaniya. He was also joint-editor in the war-time memoirs of Topper Brown published in 2016.

Cliff is a member of the British Commission for Military History, the Society for Military History and the Manchester Military History Society. He regularly gives presentations and acts a guide on WW2 battlefield tours. Current specific areas of interest are:

Air Power 1939 - 1945
War on the periphery - 1939 - 1945
The Western Desert Campaign 1940 -1942
The Italian Campaign 1942 - 1945
